AA HL rewards understanding more than memory. The notes are built around that idea, and a few habits will help you get the most from it.
Read for the why first
Every section opens with the reason the idea exists. Read that part slowly. When you know what problem a result solves, the formula stops being something to remember and becomes something you could rebuild.
Work the examples before you read them
Cover the solution to a worked example and try the first line yourself. Even a wrong start teaches you more than reading a correct one. Then compare your line with the one in the notes, and notice where you would have gone differently.
Do Your Turn straight away
Each section ends with a short Your Turn block. Do it while the idea is fresh, not at the end of the chapter. If a question stops you, go back to the example it mirrors: they are written in pairs.
Keep a mistakes page
When an answer is wrong, write down why, in one line: a sign error, a lost solution, a misread question. After a few weeks the list shows you your own patterns, and those are the marks you can win back most easily.
Save the exam-style problems for later
The Paper 1 and Paper 2 style questions at the end of each chapter mix ideas together. Try them a week after you finish the chapter, without the notes. That delay is uncomfortable, and it is exactly what makes the learning last.
